This Is the $65 Device That Could End Your Acne for Good

We Scraped The Acne Off Our Faces (July 2019).

We are ALL after flawless skin, and following the routines of skinspirational muses to get product recs and stay in the know of the latest and greatest in skincare (micro-needling, anyone?) is part of the process. Last month, I got a life-changing facial from the founder and owner of Stacked Skincare, Kerry Benjamin. Ever since, I can't stop raving about this crazy device she used to treat my skin that left my face totally smooth, glowing and the best it's looked in a long time.

Kerry's tool of choice to treat a slew of her clients' skincare issues is a high-frequency device (HFD), like Stacked Skincare High Frequency ($65). These tools can seriously transform your skin, but they're still gentle enough to use in the comfort of your own home (or you can step it up and have a pro sesh from an aesthetician). We chatted with Kerry about why she loves using high-frequency devices on her clients and all the benefits they offer.

Seriously, even though we're talking about a tool that zaps your skin, these things really are safe (and painless). You won't experience redness or have any downtime after a HFD treatment — in fact, Kerry said your skin should actually be less red after using it because the device kills bacteria and calms inflammation. That said, if you have eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, are pregnant or have a history of heart disease, steer clear of HFDs.

Let me break it down for you: You will feel *something* happening to your skin, but it's definitely not painful (at allll). The HFD does emit a buzzing sound, but that's as scary as it gets. "You should feel a tingling sensation of about a three or four on a scale of one to 10," Kerry said. "More is not better, so turn it up to a level that is comfortable for you and your skin. You may start out lower and work your way up once you get used to the device."

HFDs can help treat stubborn acne, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, fade hyperpigmentation, help acne scars disappear, shrink large pores, de-puff and fade dark undereye circles and increase circulation. Yup — it's a one-stop shop for skincare issues. If you want to make your skin bomb AF, give a HFD a try!
