WTF: Bloomingdale's Wants to Bring Back the Juicy Couture Tracksuit

Interview with Lisa Edelstein of Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce Season 3 Premiere (July 2019).

The throwback-fashion resurgence of 2016 continues. We've really loved watching the comeback of '90s style essentials over the last year, and have been rocking a lot of the key looks ourselves (hello chokers and Doc Martens). But what about the early 2000s? Well… TBH, we remember it as a confusing and not-so-cute time in the world of fashion. Hip-huggers and visible thong whale tails, anyone? So we couldn't believe it when we heard the news that Bloomingdale's is bringing back one of the ugliest trends of the weirdest fashion decade in recent memory: the Juicy Couture velour tracksuit. With so many gorgeous colorful athleisure options these days (we mean, can you beat a Beyonce athleisure line?), what gives?

The Juicy tracksuit was everything in 2000-2004. Every celeb had JC on their bodies while they shopped and hung out in LA, sometimes even wearing them to red carpet events (we're not naming names, ahem, Lindsay Lohan). Paris Hilton and Britney Spears were the epitome of Juicy tracksuit fans, often pairing them with rhinestone accessories and tiny dogs.

But why would anyone want to wear this outfit in 2016, over 10 years past its heyday? We're assuming the buyers at Bloomingdale's know something we don't, because they've partnered with Juicy's cofounders to create a capsule collection of these classic tracksuits, which will be available at Bloomies in July for both girls and women. The separates range in price from $88-108 for women, and the pants come in both slim and flare styles. This pricing is odd, considering you can still scoop up a Juicy jacket for under $30 at Kohl's.

We guess we'll have to wait and see what happens with this release. It'll either be a confusing success or a total (fashion) flop.
